Welcome back. Riyan Parag and his men stride out to the middle. The Purple Cap holder, Ravi Bishnoi, comes in as the Impact Sub for the Rajasthan Royals. Donovan Ferreira has been subbed out. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton walk out to open the innings for Mumbai. Jofra Archer will steam in first up. Rickelton will take the first strike. Here we go!
... THE RUN CHASE ...
A stiff challenge awaits MI - The hard new ball travelled early on, but as it softened, the slower deliveries began to grip the surface. Whether RR's pacers can take a cue from the hard lengths that worked for MI remains to be seen. MI do bat deep, so this is not beyond them. Stay tuned for Mumbai's reply.
RR openers put on a show - Mumbai's quicks went in search of swing but erred repeatedly, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal made hay. The 20 balls of the Powerplay saw RR race to 59 runs as they made an early statement. Hardik Pandya led the way by hitting the deck hard and conceding just four runs in his first over before others began to follow suit. Sooryavanshi fell for a 14-ball 39, but Jaiswal batted through and delivered the final flourish, with Riyan Parag also chipping in with a handy cameo along the way.
Are you not entertained? Thrill-a-minute stuff is exactly what these shortened games provide, and the first innings of this contest had no shortage of entertainment. The Rajasthan Royals end up with a formidable total on the board after being asked to bat first.

FOUR! And that extra ball costs Shardul and MI. It is a rank full toss outside off. Yashasvi Jaiswal accepts the gift and smacks it through the cover and point gap for a boundary. 18 runs from the final over. RAJASTHAN ROYALS FINISH AT 150/3.
WIDE! Shardul tries to keep it far from the arc, but pushes it beyond the tramline. Jaiswal is happy to leave it. Wide called. Third extra of the over.
FOUR! Plays the field so nicely! Short of a good length, outside off. Yashasvi Jaiswal shuffles far across off and laps it to the right of the keeper for a boundary.
Excellent delivery! And just for a moment, Shardul goes up in appeal for caught behind, but it is not entertained. Thakur walks back to the bowling mark. Lands the yorker perfectly, around off. Yashasvi Jaiswal tries to squeeze it out to the off side, but does not get bat on ball.
WIDE! Bangs it hard into the pitch, short and slow, over off. Jaiswal shapes up to play the ramp shot, but misses. Wide is called, but the Mumbai Indians have gone upstairs for a review. UltraEdge is being checked first, and it comes up with a flat line. The ball is clearly above the head height, says the TV umpire. Ball Tracking shows that it is a few meters above Jaiswal's head height. Hence, the on-field decision is upheld.
FOUR! Clever batting! Jaiswal shuffles outside off before the ball is bowled. Shardul offers him a juicy full toss outside off. Jaiswal uses the pace and just guides it through the backward point and deep third gap for a boundary. Jaiswal takes over the Orange Cap from Sameer Rizvi. He is now at the top of the run scorers list in this IPL.
Well bowled! Wide yorker, outside off, Hetmyer fails to get under this and heaves it through mid-wicket for a single.
WIDE! Shardul pushes it across the batter, wide outside off on a fuller length. Shimron Hetmyer leaves it alone but it is called a fair delivery. He reviews the on-field call. The revised guideline comes up and it shows that the ball has clearly passed beyond the new guideline, with no part of the ball inside. So, the on-field decision is overturned.
Jaiswal was gone had the throw hit! Across off, full in length. Hetmyer walks across and throws his hands at it. The ball squirts off an inside edge towards the vacant mid-wicket region and the batters charge back for the second run. The fielder in the deep swoops in and has a shy at the bowling end but misses. Thakur could not get behind the stumps in time to collect the throw and Jaiswal managed to get home.
Time for the final over. Shardul Thakur to close out the innings. A wicket and 18 runs from Thakur's only over so far.

Short of a length off-cutter at 117.3 kph, angled outside leg. Hetmyer is early through his pull, fails to read the change of pace, and hits it off the toe end. The ball trickles to long on, who cuts it off to his right. One taken. Hetmyer pushes for a second but Jaiswal sends him back just in time. Bumrah goes wicketless for yet another game.
Deceives the southpaw through another bouncer with pace taken off. Shimron Hetmyer is months early to pull that away and misses to connect.
An attempted yorker, on off, Jaiswal carves it through the vacant mid off region for a single.
SIX! PUNISHED! Misses the yorker by a few meters, does Bumrah. This is on the off stump line and Jaiswal thumps it downtown and it goes far into the stands for a six.
WIDE! This goes over the head height. A slower bouncer on off. Jaiswal tries to ramp it behind, but misses. Wide given.
Nails the yorker in, on off. Hetmyer squeezes it to backward point for a single.
A well-directed and deceptive slower bumper, on top of off. Shimron Hetmyer shapes up to pull, but decides to let it pass.

Around off, on a length, at 95.5 kph. Shimron Hetmyer hangs deep in the crease and cuts it to backward point. A wicket and 12 runs from this over. 2-0-21-2 for AM Ghazanfar. Pretty decent figures given the carnage up top.
Shimron Hetmyer makes his way out to the centre. An interesting observation on air from Faf du Plessis. He reckons that as the ball has gotten older and lost its hardness, the bounce has not been as true as it was earlier.
OUT! CAUGHT! Ghazanfar redeems himself. Wicket number 2 for the Afghan spinner. Hardik appreciates as well. Pushed on a fuller length, on the stump line. Riyan Parag again gets on the front foot, tries to get under it to pump it behind long on. But this time, he gets no timing on the shot. Plays off the inner half and airs it to Tilak Varma, who moves a bit to his left from long on and takes the catch. Rajasthan Royals are 121/3.
SIX! Connects and connects well enough. Into the slot, around off, Riyan Parag clears the front leg and hammers it over long on for a big six.
Flat and full, on off. Riyan Parag tries to slap that past cover, but the inside edge deflects onto the keeper's pads and it rolls towards short third.
Slightly full, on leg, Jaiswal whips it through square leg for a single.
FOUR! Cracking shot! Slides across off, full in length. Yashasvi Jaiswal smashes it over the bowler's head, bisecting long on and long off to perfection for a boundary.
AM Ghazanfar (1-0-9-0) is back.
Commentary
That's a wrap from Guwahati - It's been a long day, we know. But a highly entertaining and engaging one for sure. Rajasthan Royals are crowned at the top with three wins in as many games, with the Orange and Purple Cap belonging to them as well. For the Mumbai Indians, it's two defeats on the trot in away games, and they have a lot to think about and work on before their next assignment. Up next, action moves back to the national capital as the Delhi Capitals take on the Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. DC are yet to lose a game, and GT are searching for their first points. That should be a cracker of a game as well. It will be played on Wednesday, 8th April, with the first ball scheduled to be bowled at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). Let's hope the weather stays clear, and we get a full game of cricket there. Do join us in advance for the build-up. Until then, we sign off. Take care, cheers!
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Rajasthan Royals' Yashasvi Jaiswal receives the award for his blazing 77* off 32 balls. Reflecting on his knock, Jaiswal says he had a clear plan going into the Powerplay. Details that with only three overs to work with, his mind was already racing through which bowler he could target and go after. On switching between formats, he admits it is anything but easy, but says thorough preparation is what keeps him on top of it. He adds he is always working on adding new shots, always thinking about which shot works on which surface. Preparation, he says, has consistently been his biggest ally. When asked whether he plans his approach in advance, Jaiswal says it is less about rigid planning and more about reading the situation in the moment. Mentions that he is always thinking about what the team needs and adjusts his game accordingly. He is all praise about Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, saying the way the youngster has been playing is nothing short of tremendous. Adds that watching him work so hard is motivating, and it pushes him to keep developing his own game. Shares that they both are constantly in conversation, talking through plans and encouraging each other to play freely. As for whether he plays the big brother figure, Jaiswal is quick to dismiss it. Says that Vaibhav understands the game very well and is more than capable of handling himself incredibly well.
Proud of the team - The victorious captain of the Rajasthan Royals, Riyan Parag says he could not have asked for more from the boys. He praises the way the team has shown up and hopes they can continue performing like this. Parag says he has always believed they are a strong side with a solid Indian core. Shares that the message to Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger has been to go out there and bowl as fast as possible. Riyan opines that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal are among the best going around right now. Adds that they have age on their side. He states that Vaibhav is not a one-dimensional slogger, while Jaiswal has been performing consistently for years.
... It is time for the Presentation ceremony ...
Here's the PURPLE CAP holder - RR's Ravi Bishnoi says he is really happy to wear the Purple Cap. He admits that it keeps rotating through the league stage. On what he is doing differently from the last season, Bishnoi replies that he has consciously worked on his lengths. On missing lengths while varying pace and adapting to conditions, he accepts that it happens. He says cricket has become a batter's game, with good pitches, heavier bats, all working against the bowlers. In that environment, he says, varying lengths and pace is the only way to put batters under pressure, even if just occasionally. He adds that the team chemistry under Riyan Parag has been excellent. Adds that being in the same age group helps them understand each other naturally. Signs off on a confident note, saying everything has gone well so far and that execution, whether as a bowler or a batter, is what makes the game feel easier on certain days.
The sun will rise again tomorrow - The captain of the Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya, admits they did not execute well in the Powerplay. He says the bowlers need to take responsibility and that the performance was not up to the mark, while also giving credit to RR for batting well. Hardik mentions that he would not put this down to the batting. Reckons that in T20 cricket, it often comes down to getting a couple of balls right with the ball. Further says that the margin of 27 runs could have been bridged with five better deliveries, which might have meant five fewer sixes. HP admits that the RR openers took the game away early, leaving them to play catch-up from there. The MI skipper says it is fascinating to watch Vaibhav Sooryavanshi bat and wishes him good luck. Pandya says it is about learning from the mistakes. He adds that tomorrow is a new day, and the focus will be on preparing well for the next game.
Rutherford's counterattack, all in vain - With wickets falling like nine-pins, MI threw the last roll on the dice by bringing in Sherfane Rutherford as the Impact sub. Rutherford did launch a strong counterattack, smashing a breezy 25 off just 8 balls, but with him and Dhir falling at the most inopportune time, MI just surrendered in the end. The bowlers of Rajasthan Royals hunted in a pack, with Burger, Sandeep, and the impact sub, Bishnoi, picking up two apiece and crashing MI's party in style.
A sloppy start in pursuit - 46/5 in five overs. That was the wreckage Mumbai Indians were left staring at before the chase had barely drawn breath. Rickelton, Rohit, SKY, Hardik, Tilak - all gone in a heap, one after another. The ball was keeping low, skidding through quickly, and the RR bowlers exploited every bit of it with sharp, disciplined execution. Mistimed hit after mistimed hit, every time the batters took the aerial route, they found a fielder instead.
Sooryavanshi-Jaiswal wreak havoc in Guwahati - If Guwahati was hit with rain and thunderstorms earlier, it was the RR hurricane that blew the Mumbai Indians bowling apart. One of the most anticipated battles coming into this game was Bumrah vs the 15-year-old, and the latter won it handsomely. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi just went berserk over the MI bowlers, smashing sixes at will before his fun was eventually stopped. But Yashasvi Jaiswal had no intention of letting up, blazing 77 off just 32 to help the Royals post a mammoth 150. From MI's end, it was a night to forget. Their premier bowlers went searching for swing and got punished every time they erred. Hardik bowled tidily, while Ghazanfar picked up two, but the rest were taken apart. Bumrah did try to deceive the batters through his variations, but found little success.
The Royals defend their fort - It was a long and frustrating wait with the weather playing its tricks. But when the game started, all it offered was a sure-shot entertainment from start to finish. An aggregate of 273 runs in 22 overs. Surely, it was a game worth every penny. Rajasthan Royals have outclassed the mighty Mumbai Indians to make it three wins in three matches, which takes them to the top of the points table.

Rajasthan Royals complete a comprehensive win to make it three in three. Jofra lands it on a hard length, outside off. Chahar stands tall and throws the kitchen sink at it. Slices it off the outer half and it goes towards deep point. Shimron Hetmyer seemed to have lost the ball in the lights and did not commit to the catch. He hangs back and gathers the ball on the bounce. The batters cross for a single. Archer wanted a better effort from Shimron.
Archer bangs it in short but takes pace off, on middle. Bumrah mistimes the pull in front of deep mid-wicket for a run.
FOUR! Cleverly done! On a hard length, over off. Bumrah rises with the bounce and gets his hands high. He uses the pace on the ball and glides it to the left of backward point for a boundary.
Nice and full, attacking the stumps. Deepak firms the drive down to long on for a single.
Pace off, on a back of a length, on middle. Chahar swings across for the pull but connects with thin air.
Jasprit Bumrah is the last man in for MI.
OUT! TRENT BOULT IS RUN OUT! Archer hits the bullseye. Nails the yorker, at the base of the middle stump. Boult drops his bat down hurriedly and jams it out beside the strip on the leg side. The two batters set off for the run and Jofra swiftly moves to his right on the follow-through. He picks the ball up, turns around and scores a direct hit at the bowling end with Boult well short.
Last over to go. Mumbai Indians will try to get as many runs as possible from this one, keeping their net run rate in mind. Also, Rajasthan Royals are penalised for a slow-over rate. Meaning, an extra fielder will have to be fielded inside the inner circle. Jofra Archer (1-0-10-1) to bowl the final over.

FOUR! Gets it away! On the shorter side, Deepak gets the width to work with and he flays it over backward point for a boundary.
Full and on middle, this is smeared to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Nelson strikes. Trent Boult is the new batter in at number 10.
OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Wicket number two for Sandeep Sharma. This is the leg-cutter, on a good length, on middle. Thakur looks to go big on the leg side and has a swipe across the line. He closes the bat face early and the ball gets skied off the top edge beside the strip on the off side. The keeper, Dhruv Jurel, calls for it, runs forward and takes the catch.
The Rajasthan Royals have dominated this game from the very first ball of the chase. They have been spot on with their lines and lengths.
Wide! Sprayed beyond the wide tramline on off. Thakur does not offer a shot.
Good effort! Sandeep keeps it around the off stump, on a length. Shardul launches it down the ground. Yashasvi Jaiswal at long off is a bit wide and sprints to his right. He stretches his right hand out to push the ball away from the fence and the converging long on fielder mops it up. A couple of runs for Shardul.
Fair delivery! A review taken by the Royals to challenge the wide given call by the umpire. An off cutter, on a length, wide outside off. Thakur flashes, only to miss. The ball is clearly passing within the revised guideline. So the on-field decision is overturned.
Wide! Down leg, low full toss. Shardul swishes at it but does not connect.
A big swing and a miss! Sandeep rolls his fingers over the ball and bowls it full, outside off. Thakur does not pick the change and swings early. He ends up missing.
Right. Last 2 overs to go. Mumbai Indians need 44 runs with 3 wickets in hand. Sandeep Sharma (2-0-17-1) to bowl the penultimate.

FOUR LEG BYES! MI will take it any way they come. Slightly too straight, on a length, on the pads. Chahar walks inside the line and lifts his front leg to play the glance. The ball clips his pads and races down to deep fine leg for a boundary.
Another MI batter who finds the fielder in an attempt to clear the fence. That's Dhir gone, and with that, MI's hopes get bleak. Deepak Chahar is the new batter in at number 9.
OUT! CAUGHT! Naman Dhir holes out. Seam-up, pace on ball, on a length, at the sticks. Dhir clears the front leg and swings through the line. He fails to get the desired elevation and hits it straight down the throat of long on, where Ravi Bishnoi gobbles it up around his chest. Dhir throws his head back in disappointment as he walks off.
FOUR! Carved away! Pace off, on a good length, outside off. Dhir does not try to force this one, instead, he lets the ball come to him, and he opens the bat face to slice it over backward point for a four.
From around the wicket for Dhir. Keeps it near the tramline on off, on a good length. Naman extends his hands and taps it to extra cover.
Very full, on middle. Thakur knocks it down to long on for one.
FOUR! Nicely done! Across off, on a good length. Thakur shuffles across and with fine leg inside the circle, he plays the scoop fine of that man inside the circle to pick up a boundary.
Nandre Burger (1-0-12-1) returns into the attack. RR need 57 from 18 balls.

A low full toss that dips below the bat. Thakur bends into it but gets it off the toe end. Squirts out in front of backward point and short third for a single.
Writing on the wall for Mumbai Indians? Shardul Thakur walks in after a big wicket of Rutherford. He is no mug with the bat either. But can he produce a moment of brilliance for his side? Let's see...
OUT! CAUGHT! Just as the belief was starting to grow, MI suffer a crushing blow. Deshpande drags his length back and pushes it across the left-hander. This is near the tramline on off, on a good length. Rutherford throws his hands at the ball. It flies off an outside edge to short third, where Sandeep Sharma is not entirely on the edge of the ring but a couple of steps ahead. He reacts quickly and dives forward. Sharma gets his fingers under the ball and manages to hold on. MI are 93/6, needing 58 runs in 19 balls.
Has Sandeep Sharma taken it cleanly? He is off for a celebration with his teammates, but the on-field umpires want to have a look at it to be doubly sure. And the replay shows that Sandeep's fingers are cleanly under the ball when he scooped it.
SIX! Easy pickings! Deshpande gets the yorker wrong. He serves a thigh-high full toss, on the pads. Rutherford swivels in the crease and picks it up over backward square leg for a six. 18 runs off the over with two balls to go. Mumbai Indians need 58 runs in 20 balls.
Wide! Slower bouncer, over middle. Sherfane Rutherford lets it pass. Too high and it is given a wide.
SIX! Clean as a whistle! Deshpande perhaps goes searching for the wide yorker. He fails to get it wide enough and serves it right in the arc, on the fuller side. Rutherford just holds his shape and pumps it over wide long off for a biggie.
Very full, on middle. Naman hits it down to long on for another single.
FOUR! Smart batting! Not a great option with third man inside the circle. This is banged in short, outside off. Naman hops and gets under the ball to play the upper-cut over short third for a boundary.
A productive phase for Mumbai Indians in the last two or three overs. But they just cannot afford to slow down as they still require 76 from 24 balls. Tushar Deshpande (1-0-10-0) is back on.

FOUR! Up and over! Bishnoi slows it up and bowls it fuller, on off. Sherfane extends his hands and does not quite go through with the shot. He checks his drive and it goes uppishly towards extra cover. Riyan Parag leaps to his right on the edge of the ring but the ball clears him. 15 runs off the over!
FOUR! Gets it through! Googly, this is fractionally short, on off. Rutherford makes use of the angle and cuts it late. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi dives to his right at backward point but the ball goes under his body and it trickles into the ropes.
Short and outside off. This is slapped to deep cover for one.
Pushes it through, on a nagging length. Rutherford chips it a bit uppishly but away from Bishnoi to his left. Single taken.
Wide! Sprayed beyond the tramline on off. Sherfane Rutherford lets it go.
Flatter and shorter, on middle. Sherfane Rutherford tucks it with soft hands in the vacant mid-wicket region and comes charging back for the second run.
DROPPED! Yashasvi Jaiswal gets there but cannot cling on. Floated up, it is the googly, on off. Rutherford swings to go down the ground. Gets it right off the toe end of the blade and it goes in front of long off. Jaiswal sprints across to his right and puts in a dive but cannot hold on. A brace for Sherfane. How costly will this drop prove to be?

Lands it on a good length, on off. Dhir swings through and chips it back over the bowler's head. Riyan Parag gets around to his right from long off and cuts it off. Two runs taken.
FOUR! Dhir flashes and flashes hard! On a length, off-pace delivery, on off. Dhir has a big swing at it. Gets a thickish outside edge and the ball flies past short third for a boundary.
Rutherford was gone for all money! Around off, Dhir dabs it to the left of backward point and Sherfane sets off for the run before being sent back. Ravindra Jadeja gets to the ball and has a shy at the bowling end but misses. Sherfane was nowhere in the frame.
SIX! That sounded so sweet! Sandeep bends his back and bashes the surface, over middle. This sits up to be hit and Dhir pulls it off the front foot wide of deep mid-wicket for a six.
Full and on middle. Naman has a swipe across the line. It goes off the inner towards wide long on, where Yashasvi Jaiswal charges across to his right but does not pick the ball up on one go and concedes the second run.
Beaten! Skidding through, it keeps low, on a length, around the off stump. Dhir walks across to clip it away but is beaten as the ball goes under the blade.

OUT! TAKEN EASILY! Another batter finds the fielder. Fuller ball and a loopy one outside leg, inviting the big shot. Tilak thinks it is there for the taking. He gets down on his knee to slog it over deep mid-wicket, but the bat face closes on impact and it shanks straight to deep mid-wicket. A simple catching practice for Shimron Hetmyer in the deep. Moves to his left a bit and takes a straightforward catch. Bishnoi has two in the over. Mumbai Indians are 46/5, needing 105 from 36 balls.
FOUR! Quality shot! A googly on a shorter length, around off. Tilak rocks back and drags it across. Finds the gap between deep mid-wicket and long on for a four.
Full on the stumps. Naman Dhir flicks this wrong'un to deep mid-wicket for a single to get off the mark.
MI's chances in the chase suffer another dent. Naman Dhir comes out to the middle.
OUT! GONE! MI are crumbling badly now with the skipper gone. Bishnoi has his arms aloft in celebration. On a length, googly on middle, spinning in just enough to cramp Hardik at the moment of impact. He gets on the front foot, but cannot free his arms, and hence, the shot comes out off the inner half and the ball goes flat down to long on. Jaiswal does the rest, running to his left to pouch a clean catch. MI are 41/4, needing another 110 runs to win from 39 balls.
FOUR! Absolutely belted! Touch short and outside off. Hardik presses back and with lightning quick hands, he smashes it through the cover-point gap for a cracking boundary.
Starts with a low, flat full toss, on the toes. Tilak Varma tucks it towards the vacant mid-wicket region. Bishnoi chases the ball himself with no protection in the ring there and keeps the batters down to a single.
Time for spin as the leggie Ravi Bishnoi comes on.

Slower length ball, outside off, Varma waits and scuffs that past extra cover for a single.
Takes pace off on a short ball, and it goes just above the helmet. But Hardik crouches and lets it pass. Dhruv Jurel fumbles to collect it cleanly and parries the ball to the short fine leg region. Hardik calls his partner through for a bye. Interestingly, it is called a fair delivery.
Slower bouncer, outside off. Hardik Pandya is deceived by the lack of pace as he slashes for a square cut and misses.
FOUR! Hits it through the gap! On the off stump line, full in length. Hardik Pandya smashes it aerially and between cover and mid off for a cracking boundary.
Not in control, but safe! Deshpande digs it in short, across off. Varma rises and looks to get on top of the bounce. He attempts the pull but the ball gets big on him. Skews it off a top edge but manages to clear mid-wicket. They cross.

Length ball, in line of the stumps, angling in. Tilak hangs back and knocks it down to long on for a single. Top over from Sandeep Sharma. Just 3 runs and a wicket of Rohit from it.
WIDE! A bit too straight, and down leg, on a length. Tilak looks to help it away on the leg side, but misses.
Slightly fuller and slanted into the batter's body. Tilak Varma moves leg side to make room and punches it back to the bowler.
On a fractionally fuller length, on off. Pandya punches it to the left of extra cover. Riyan Parag dives to that direction and stops the ball to keep it down to a single only.
6th time that Sandeep Sharma has dismissed Rohit Sharma in the IPL, according to the on-air commentators. In walks the MI skipper with his side in strife. Here's Hardik Pandya.
OUT! LBW! Brilliant bowling display from the Royals. Sandeep fires in a yorker onto the middle and leg stump line. Rohit Sharma gets across and down on his knee to play the paddle sweep on the leg side, but his head falls over in the process and he misses to get hit on the front pad. He even loses his balance and falls over on the pitch. Sandeep Sharma and RR appeal for LBW as one and up goes the finger. But Rohit Sharma, after a lot of pondering, has taken the review. There is a clear gap between bat and ball and Ball Tracking shows three reds with the ball crashing into the middle pole. MI are on their knees at 22/3. They need 129 runs from 51 balls.
At pace now and a pinpoint yorker, Rohit Sharma carves it to short third and finds the fielder. Looks for a single, but there is none on offer and he retreats.
Off cutter to start with. Full and on off. Rohit gets on the front foot and slices it to backward point.
Sandeep Sharma comes into the attack. Dhruv Jurel is standing up to the stumps. Interesting.

Spots Tilak dancing down the track, and Burger digs in a short ball into the batter's body. Varma is tucked up for space and can only stab it onto the pitch. A fantastic over from Nandre Burger. A wicket and 12 runs from it.
Fullish, on off. Varma presses in front for a cover drive, but inside edges past the leg pole to deep fine leg. Two taken.
Tilak Varma is the new man in.
OUT! TAKEN! Burger is pumped up and why not? This is a massive wicket in the context of the game. Banged in short on leg by Burger. Suryakumar Yadav gets inside the line and tries to pull it into the stands behind deep backward square leg. But mishits the shot due to it being the slower one. Finds no power on it and airs it into the hands of Jofra Archer stationed in the deep. Mumbai Indians are 20/2 in the chase of 151 with SKY gone.
Back of a length, across off. Suryakumar Yadav gets a bit squared up and stabs it to backward point with soft hands.
WIDE! Down the leg side, with the length pulled back. SKY tries to help it behind again, but misses. Wided.
SIX! Helped on its way! A loose ball from Burger. Full, on leg. Suryakumar Yadav sits across, uses the pace and scoops it over the deep fine leg fence for a six.
Back of a length outside off, Rohit rises with the bounce and eases it through cover-point. Sooryavanshi dives but can't stop it. Jaiswal, the other fielder in the ring hunts it down before the ropes with a slide. Three taken.

OUT! STRAIGHT UP AND CAUGHT! Archer strikes in the very first over and is rewarded for bowling consistently. Bowls the heavy ball, does Archer. Short of a good length, around off and it keeps climbing on the batter. Ryan Rickelton lines up to heave it across but only finds a thick top edge. The ball balloons miles up in the night sky over short third. Dhruv Jurel calls others out of the way, backtracks and takes a fine catch by settling under it. That was swirling in the air and it's a well-judged take by the RR keeper. Mumbai Indians are 10/1, chasing 151.
SIX! And away she goes! Just a touch fuller than the previous ball, on middle. Ryan Rickelton gets under it nicely and whips it cleanly behind deep mid-wicket for a 77-meter six into the stands.
A slight inswing on this one, full on leg. Rohit Sharma plays the pick-shot, but hits it aerially off the inner half. It goes on the bounce to the deep mid-wicket fielder. Just a single.
Hard length, on middle and leg. Ryan taps it toward wide mid off and crosses over.
The length is fuller now, around off. Rohit attempts to loft it downtown, but it slightly nips in and takes the inside edge. Deflects off the pads and rolls in front of backward point for a single.
MI and Rickelton are away in the chase! Back of a length, at 139.5 kph, on off. Ryan Rickelton hops up on his toes and dabs it behind backward point for a single.
Commentary

OUT! LBW! Ghazanfar with a big wicket now. RR lose two in a quick interval. This is pushed in front of the stumps, on a slightly fuller length. Jurel decides to play that off the back foot and tries to work it across, but plays all around it and is hit on the back pad. Up goes the finger on a confident appeal for LBW. Jurel initially starts his march back, but then decides to send it upstairs for a review. UltraEdge detects nothing as it passes close to the inside edge. OUT! CAUGHT! Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is distraught. Thakur keeps the line of attack near the guideline on off and he has the field for it. After being hit for a six earlier in the over, the man in the deep was brought in front of square. Sooryavanshi reaches out and he picks the bones out of it. He fails to get it wide enough and Tilak Varma is quick to move to his left at deep cover and takes the catch over his head with a small leap.
SIX! Straight as an arrow! Slightly too full and bowls the slower one. The ball just slides onto the bat, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi swings through the line to tonk it towards the sight screen for a biggie.

Nearly chopped on! A better length from Thakur, on the shorter side. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi throws his hands at it. Gets an inside edge past the leg stump and to short fine leg for one.
FOUR! Shardul Thakur misses his mark again and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi makes him pay. Slower ball attempted by Thakur, too full, too wide. Vaibhav slams it over extra cover for a one-bounce boundary.
SIX! Welcome, Shardul, says Vaibhav! A floater first up from Shardul, outside off. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gets the width to free his arms, and he thumps it over extra cover for a six. Deja vu, anyone? Remember, Vaibhav's first ball six on IPL debut last year? It was the same shot, same region and the same bowler.

So far, so good from Hardik! Slower one, in and around the off stump, on a good length. Vaibhav turns it in front of square on the leg side for another single. Can the MI skipper finish well?
Hardik hits the hard length and tucks the batter up for room. Jaiswal mistimes the pull through wide mid on for a run.
Outside off, on a short of a length, this is cut away to deep point for one.

FOUR! A gift and Yashasvi Jaiswal accepts it gleefully. Chahar goes full in search of swing but dishes out a full toss, on off and middle. Jaiswal swings through the line and although he does not quite get hold of it, he hits it well wide of mid off to his left. The ball has enough legs to reach the fence.
Tailing back in, very full, on leg. Jaiswal wrists it neatly off the pads but picks out the fielder at mid-wicket.
Oh dear! What happened there? Jaiswal pulled out just when Chahar was about to bowl. Maybe some movement around the sightscreen put his concentration off. Chahar walks back to reload.
FOUR! Up and over! Jaiswal has come out swinging and there is no other way to approach an 11-over game. Chahar continues to miss his mark in terms of his lengths. This is a bit too full, outside off. Yashasvi stays leg side of the ball and swings at it. Carves it to the left of the man at backward point for a four.
SIX! All the way! Slightly fuller, a bit of shape back into the left-hander, on middle. Jaiswal clears the front leg and heaves it over deep mid-wicket for half a dozen.
FOUR! BANG! Jaiswal and RR are on their way. Not the best of balls first up by Chahar. This slides across the left-hander, but the length is too short. It sits up to be hit and Jaiswal mows it through mid-wicket for a four.
Finally, we are all set for the game to commence in Guwahati. It's been a looooong wait, and the patience has paid off. What's better than seeing some cricket being played, aye? The two umpires are out in the middle. Hardik Pandya has his men in the huddle before the MI players spread out. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the two openers for Rajasthan Royals. Deepak Chahar has the new ball in hand and will get us underway. Jaiswal to take the strike, with a slip in place. Here we go!
PITCH REPORT - Pommie Mbangwa informs that this is a black-soil pitch, with the earlier game at the venue having been played on a red-soil strip. Michael Clarke joins him, and he adds that the ground staff deserve a lot of credit for getting the ground ready. Clarke notes that the surface feels a bit cold after being under covers, but doesn’t believe there is any moisture in it. He further says that the wicket looks quite good for batting, though it could play a little slower than what was seen in the previous game.
Impact subs nominated by MI - Sherfane Rutherford, Corbin Bosch, Robin Minz, Raj Bawa and Ashwani Kumar.
Mumbai Indians (Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (WK), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Naman Dhir, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, AM Ghazanfar, Trent Boult (In for Corbin Bosch) and Jasprit Bumrah.

The captain of the Rajasthan Royals - Riyan Parag says he would have bowled first as well, noting that there is a little bit of moisture around, though he doesn't expect it to play a big role in an 11-over game. Parag mentions that he is very pleased with how the team has performed in the first couple of games and is happy with the way the players handled pressure in the previous match. Riyan ends by informing that they are unchanged for this game.
The skipper of the Mumbai Indians - Hardik Pandya says that the pitch has been under the covers for a long time. Details that in rain-affected games like this, it is always a good option to bowl first, as it gives an idea of how the pitch will play and what the score will be. On losing the previous match, Hardik says it is just the start of the season, and you don't win the IPL in the first few days. Shares that they have spoken in detail about what needs to be done. Anil Kumble reckons the ground staff will need around 20 more minutes to get the ground ready for play. The strip has been uncovered, and RR's head coach, Kumar Sangakkara, is the first one to have a look at the 22 yards.
9.10 pm IST (3.40 pm GMT) - Good news! It looks like the rain has stopped. There was some movement on the field with the head ground staff taking a closer look at the situation, with no umbrella in hand. That brought about a loud cheer from the crowd as well. The groundsmen are beginning to take the covers off. Hope the rain doesn't return. Fingers crossed. Stay tuned for further updates.
9.01 pm IST (3.31 pm GMT) - We are well within the territory where overs have started to trim down now, and unfortunately, we don't have any positive updates. It continues to rain, but that hasn't dampened the spirits of the fans present in the stands, who still believe that things will improve soon. We are also hearing that 10.56 pm IST (5.26 pm GMT) is the cut-off time for a 5-over per side contest. For that, we have plenty of time left. But let's hope we get more cricket than that.
8.34 pm IST (3.04 pm GMT) - The official word is here, folks. It is now confirmed that we will start to lose overs from 8.40 pm IST (3.10 pm GMT). That is, in just about 5 minutes or so from now. And since it is still raining in Guwahati, it is now a certainty that if and when the game starts, it will be a truncated one. For now, there is no activity on the ground, and the wait continues for the rain to stop.
8.23 pm IST (2.53 pm GMT) - The fourth umpire has made his way out, and there are no umbrellas in sight in the visuals. He is in conversation with a few members of the ground staff. While the intensity of the rain has reduced, it hasn’t completely stopped just yet, so the covers remain in place for now.
8.08 pm IST (2.38 pm GMT) - Nothing pleasing to report as it continues to drizzle in Guwahati. We are hearing that there was a bit of lightning as well, and the drizzle is still steady. Also, when the rain had momentarily stopped, the live visuals did show a lot of puddles on the outfield, which will surely take quite some time to dry up. But for that, the rain needs to stop completely. Let's hope for the best.
You have got to feel for the fans - Guwahati is the alternate home venue for the Rajasthan Royals, where they are scheduled to play three games this season. This is the second fixture at this venue, with one more to come later in the week on Friday, April 10, against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Let's hope we get at least some action tonight and the fans don't miss out entirely.
7.43 pm IST (2.13 pm GMT) - Uh, oh, the rain is back. It is only a drizzle, but enough to halt the process of the removal of the covers. The overs will begin to be reduced once the one-hour buffer time elapses. The radar suggests the rain could linger for about another hour before clearing for good. Stick around for more news.
7.20 pm IST (1.50 pm GMT) - It has stopped raining, and the ground staff have sprung into action. Unlike what we saw at Eden Gardens on Monday, the entire ground here in Guwahati was not covered. The exposed areas have taken a beating, with puddles visible, and those will pose a challenge for the groundsmen. Riyan Parag is out in the middle along with a couple of members of the coaching staff. The Super Sopper is at work, and let's hope that there is no more rain so that the mop-up work can be completed without any interruption.
Words from the RR camp - Nandre Burger says he is feeling really good with the way the ball is coming out of his hand, though he is still searching for the desired rhythm. He adds that the harder one searches for it, the harder it becomes to find, and believes the best approach is to keep going without overthinking. Burger mentions that Jofra Archer is a pretty straightforward character and that together they look to quickly assess the conditions and share insights on the optimal lengths to bowl on a particular track.
7.05 pm IST (1.35 pm GMT) - The live visuals show that the rain is very heavy and, more concerningly, it's a pretty steady downpour. RR captain Riyan Parag was out on the sidelines and was also seen having a chat with a member of the ground staff a little earlier. The camera pans to the RR dressing room, where the players are relaxed and waiting for the rain to stop.
Who do we have for a quick chat? MI's Tilak Varma, it is. Tilak shares his enthusiasm for the current IPL season, noting that while he has already tasted victory with the Indian national team in the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup, his primary goal now is to help MI secure a record sixth title. On batting at different positions, he says he focuses on what the team needs at any given moment, planning his innings based on the situation and the bowlers, and going with the flow from there. On team performance so far, he highlights that the last game was not great for MI, and admits that they did not bat well, but says the team is in a good mindset and good shape overall. He is hopeful they can do great things this season.
6.48 pm IST (1.18 pm GMT) - The official word is in. The flip of the coin has been delayed. The rain continues to fall steadily, but don't lose hope. The forecast suggests conditions should begin to clear in about an hour, but for now, it is a waiting game.
Master vs prodigy - Every Rajasthan Royals game brings with it the excitement of watching Vaibhav Sooryavanshi do his thing. And when Jasprit Bumrah takes the field, you are witnessing greatness in motion. When youth meets experience, it makes for box-office viewing. The rain threatens to delay that show, but let's hope for the best.
Powerplay could decide it all - Since the 2022 IPL, the Rajasthan Royals have scored the most runs in the first six overs. The Mumbai Indians aren't far behind either, sitting third on that list and boasting plenty of firepower in the same phase. It's not just with the bat where these two sides stack up closely. On the bowling front as well, both teams have been among the most effective in the powerplay. RR have picked up the second-most wickets in this phase since 2022, while MI are again close behind in third.
Greetings, all! It was a damp squib to start the week in Kolkata, and unfortunately, the story is no different in Guwahati, where the Rajasthan Royals are scheduled to take on the Mumbai Indians. What began as a bright, sunny day turned gloomy, with spells of rain through the afternoon. At the moment, it is raining, and given the amount of rain the city has already received today, we won't be having any action anytime soon.
... MATCH DAY ...
A clash of firepower and form - Match 13 of IPL 2026 brings an exciting face-off as Rajasthan Royals take on Mumbai Indians at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. Two sides packed with match-winners, but arriving with contrasting momentum - RR riding high on back-to-back wins, while MI have shown flashes of brilliance but are still searching for consistency. With explosive batting line-ups, quality bowling attacks, and a history of closely fought encounters, this promises to be a high-octane contest where small moments could make all the difference. Royals riding the momentum - Rajasthan Royals arrive in Guwahati with confidence and clarity, having stitched together two wins in contrasting fashion. Their campaign has been defined by strong starts and calm finishes, from a dominant display against CSK to a nervy, well-executed defence against GT. The leadership of Riyan Parag has stood out, showing maturity beyond his years, while his all-round value continues to be central to RR's balance. Add to that the experience and impact of Ravindra Jadeja, and this is a side that knows how to control key moments in a game. RR's opening blitz - The explosive duo of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a revelation, providing flying starts in both games in the Powerplay - 74 in the first and 69 in the second. Vaibhav, in particular, lit up the tournament with a stunning 17-ball 52 against CSK and is striking at a staggering 237.1 so far. Jaiswal followed it up with a classy half-century in the next outing, ensuring RR continue to dominate the Powerplay phase. These starts have laid the perfect platform for the middle order to build on. Middle order yet to fully click - Despite the strong starts, RR still have another gear to unlock. Dhruv Jurel has already shown his range with a career-best IPL knock, but the likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Parag himself are yet to truly fire with the bat. With Donovan Ferreira and Jadeja adding muscle down the order, RR possess serious finishing power and if this unit clicks collectively, they could become one of the most dangerous batting line-ups in the tournament. Bowling that delivers under pressure - While Archer and Deshpande grabbed headlines for their ice-cold execution at the death against GT, defending 14 runs in the last two overs, the real game-changer was Ravi Bishnoi, whose 4/41 turned the match on its head. Nandre Burger has quietly been their most consistent pacer, while Sandeep Sharma will be keen to step up and add more control with the new ball. This attack has variety, and more importantly, the ability to deliver in crunch moments. MI's explosive yet unpredictable batting - Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, have already shown just how dangerous they can be. Their chase of 221 against KKR was powered by a massive 148-run opening stand between Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton, taking the game away in the Powerplay itself. Rohit has led from the front with 113 runs in two games, while the biggest positive from their loss to DC was Suryakumar Yadav returning to form with a gritty fifty. Naman Dhir's cameos have added depth, but Tilak Varma's two failures remain a concern in an otherwise strong batting unit. Key returns and tactical calls - The expected return of Hardik Pandya is a huge boost, restoring balance with both bat and ball. MI might also rethink their bowling combination after the Corbin Bosch experiment didn't quite work, with Trent Boult likely to come back into the XI to strengthen both the Powerplay and death overs. Sherfane Rutherford adds another layer of explosiveness, while Mitchell Santner's all-round utility brings control in the middle overs. Bowling - strengths and concerns - Deepak Chahar impressed with the new ball in the last game, but Shardul Thakur couldn't replicate his earlier impact against KKR. Jasprit Bumrah has been typically economical, but interestingly remains wicketless so far as teams have preferred to play him out. MI's bowling, while experienced, hasn't quite clicked as a unit, something they'll need to address against an in-form RR batting line-up. A rivalry that's neck and neck - There's very little to separate these two sides historically. Mumbai Indians hold a slight edge in the head-to-head at 16-14, but the recent contests tell a different story, with the last six meetings evenly split at 3-3. It underlines just how competitive this rivalry has been, often swinging on small moments and individual brilliance. Team form (Last 5 completed games, recent first) - RR - WWWLL | MI - LWLWL. Conditions and What to Expect - The Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati is known for its batting-friendly surface, with high scores and chasing sides often enjoying the advantage due to dew. With two explosive batting units and quality finishers on both sides, this game could once again be decided by Powerplay dominance and death-over execution, setting the stage for a high-scoring thriller.
