Calling it a day - That’s all from this nail-biting contest, where the Gujarat Titans somehow managed to edge out the Delhi Capitals to finally get on the board this season. Next up in IPL 2026, we move to the City of Joy with Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 9. The match begins at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), and you can join us early for all the build-up. Goodbye for now!

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Rashid Khan wins the award for his excellent spell of 3/17. He says that he is happy with how things panned out and he felt good bowling today. Especially after a period of being out of the game for a few months some time back, he is feeling better and trying to hit his marks. On his wickets, he says that he practiced in the nets to try and bowl from around the wicket to Axar Patel. Further mentions that GT have been a part of some really close games in the last few years and just tried to tell the pacers to bowl their best delivery no matter what.

Happy to get the first win - Shubman Gill, the victorious skipper of the Gujarat Titans, says that he is definitely relieved. Adds that all three games they have played have gone to the last over, but he is happy to get their first win. Mentions that when Miller denied the single, he thought they had the chance to win. Gill shares that they were discussing whether to go for the yorker or slower one, but went with the latter, and it worked out. Says that they were good in the field, except for his overthrow that went for five runs, and fielding makes a big difference in this format. Tells that they thought 210 was 10-15 runs above par on this surface. Ends by saying that now he just needs to sleep and see how his neck is feeling the next day.

Presentation Time...

A quick chat - GT's Jos Buttler says that it feels great to get the win, which they desperately needed. On scoring a fifty, Jos says that he feels good but he's played for long enough to know that the lean patch would go away at some point. Buttler mentions that they do have a good team and it is a long tournament, but they need to play well in order to stay in the race for the playoffs. On Rashid Khan, Buttler says that this kind of wicket suits him and he bowled really well tonight. On being 35 and staying motivated, Buttler says that he'll try to keep playing for as long as possible.

Could have played a bit smartly - Axar Patel, the captain of Delhi Capitals, says that both teams played very good cricket and in these close games, it can always go either way. Adds that in close games, you can point out a lot of things, but feels that they could have played a bit smartly to not lose wickets at crucial stages. On KL Rahul, Axar says that the way KL kept the momentum high even after the Powerplay was brilliant and hopefully, he finishes off the game next time.

Titans hold their nerve - Gujarat Titans will be more relieved than happy here. They went wicketless in the Powerplay, with none of the bowlers making an impact early on. However, it was the Afghan magician Rashid Khan who turned the game with a double-wicket over, and then removed Axar on the last ball of his spell to finish with incredible figures of 3/17. Siraj picked up the big wicket of KL Rahul but was taken for plenty in the penultimate over, while Prasidh Krishna, who also got a couple, held his nerve brilliantly, executing a superb slower bumper on the final ball. Credit also goes to Jos Buttler for hitting the stumps to complete the run-out that sealed the game.

Gill-Sundar stand sets up GT’s big total - Earlier in the game, the Gujarat Titans piled on a big total, riding on a strong top-order display and a crucial partnership in the middle. Jos Buttler provided early momentum with a quick-fire 52 off 27, but the real highlight was the 104-run stand between skipper Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar. Back from injury, Gill looked in sublime touch with a classy 70 off 45, while Sundar brought up his maiden IPL fifty in style. Delhi's bowling effort was a mixed bag - Mukesh Kumar picked up a couple but went for runs, Kuldeep Yadav and Lungi Ngidi chipped in with one each, with the Protea standing out for his control, returning figures of 1/24 in an otherwise challenging outing for the attack.

One run, endless questions - David Miller, despite a thumb injury, returned to fight on and almost pulled off something special, smashing 41 off 20 and bringing the equation down to 2 off 2 from 36 needed off the final two overs. But in a moment that will be debated for a long time, he turned down a single on the penultimate ball, a decision that ultimately cost them the game, with Kuldeep run out on the final delivery as Delhi Capitals fell short by just one run.

Rahul leads the charge - Delhi Capitals got off to a flying start, with Pathum Nissanka taking charge while KL Rahul played second fiddle. It got even better as they capped the Powerplay with a 23-run over, racing to 63/0 after six. However, Nissanka fell for 41 off 24, which only pushed Rahul to shift gears as he brought up a 29-ball fifty. The game turned briefly when they were pegged back, losing Rana and, more importantly, Sameer Rizvi, who has been their hero, in the same over. That, though, didn’t deter Rahul, who kept chipping away at the target, but the real blow came when he fell for a superb 92, leaving them in a tough spot.

Drama till the very end - An absolute rollercoaster of a game in the Capital City, and surely one of the best this season. It had everything - twists, drama, and high-pressure moments, as the Gujarat Titans pulled a rabbit out of the hat, although in all honesty, it was served on a platter to them, and importantly, they get their first win of the season. It's still hard to fathom how Delhi Capitals let this slip, and that call from Miller to turn down the single on the penultimate ball will be talked about for a long time.

OUT! KULDEEP YADAV IS RUN OUT! Unbelievable end to the game, GT WIN BY 1 RUN. A slower bumper from Prasidh Krishna, a gutsy delivery to bowl, but he gets it right. The ball is just outside off and at helmet height. David Miller has to reach for it but is undone by the lack of pace and the extra bounce. The ball bounces behind to the keeper and the batters try to sneak in a bye. Jos Buttler, who had taken off his right glove before this delivery for this particular scenario, gets his opportunity to win the game and he underarms the throw at the stumps to perfection at the striker's end. Yadav dives but in vain. However, the drama isn't over there as Miller reviews it for a wide for height but replays suggest that it is a fair delivery. Miller is heartbroken, and the GT players are ecstatic.

It is all happening. Gujarat Titans are celebrating here, with Kuldeep Yadav being run out. However, David Miller has taken the review for a wide over head height. If it is, we will have another ball, or else it's a 1-run win for the Titans. The replay and Ball Tracking confirm it is below Miller's head, and he is devastated. We have seen that glum face of Miller before, in the 2024 T20 World Cup final. Rabada, quickly goes to his South African mate, and has his hand wrapped around Miller's shoulder. Great camaraderie.

That is a brave call! It could have been 1 off 1, but it seems like Miller does not trust Kuldeep Yadav that much. Still, all three results are possible here.

19.50

Oh, wow! What a surprising decision. David Miller could have and probably should have levelled the scores here but he denies the single. Slower short ball, angled at the batter, Miller swivels back and pulls it down through square leg. The batters start running, but Miller sends Kuldeep back. 2 needed off 1 ball now.

19.46

SIX! 'If it's in the V, it's in the tree.' Krishna serves another one in the slot, just outside off, and with pace on as well. David Miller sets base deep in the crease and just powers through the line of the ball, whacking it up and away over long off for a biggie. Just 2 needed now off 2 balls. Super Over, anyone?

19.31

Back of a length and in the channel outside off, Kuldeep Yadav runs it down to deep third and picks up a single. 8 needed now off 3 balls.

The slowing down tactics have worked for the Gujarat Titans. Kuldeep Yadav comes out to the middle now. His job is to get Miller back on strike.

19.2W

OUT! CAUGHT! Vipraj Nigam tries to force the lofted shot away but that's well bowled and GT are right back in it. Prasidh Krishna brings out the slower bumper and gets it around shoulder height and just outside off. Nigam backs away and tries to go over covers, as there's no one out in the deep but ends up getting more height than distance. Shubman Gill at covers, backtracks and takes a safe catch. 9 needed off 4 balls.

Shubman Gill gets around to his bowler again, and the Gujarat Titans are trying to slow the game down here.

19.14

FOUR! The Capitals are in a hurry now. Still, 9 needed off 5 balls. Full on off, right in the slot with mid off inside the circle. Vipraj Nigam stays deep in the crease and smashes it over extra cover for a boundary.

Last over coming up now. Have to say Delhi Capitals are in the driver's seat, but all three results are still possible. To make matters worse for the Gujarat Titans, they have been penalised for slow over rate and will have to keep an extra fielder inside the circle. Prasidh Krishna has been handed the ball to try and defend the runs.

18.61

A juicy full toss, angled into the batter. Nigam backs away and ends up flicking it down to deep backward square leg for a run. 13 needed now off 6 deliveries.

18.54

FOUR! That is so nicely done by Nigam, 22 off the over with one ball to go. All the momentum with DC at the moment. Slower bumper, over off stump, Nigam waits well and puts his bat up, ramping it straight over the keeper's head. There is a fine third man in place but he can't reach it.

18.41

Short of a length, over middle, pulled down to deep mid-wicket for a run.

Time for a conference. Shubman Gill has gone up to Mohammed Siraj now, but the look on their faces tells they are the ones under pressure now.

18.36

SIX! In the arc, and out of the park. Miller doesn't even look at the ball after hitting it. Full and straight from Siraj, right in the slot. Miller puts the head down and hits through the line, high and mighty over long on for a biggie. 19 needed now off 9 balls.

18.24

FOUR! Miller is putting the pressure back on Siraj. Too full and too wide outside off, Miller uses those long levers to reach out and slaps it flat over extra cover for a boundary. It almost hits the cushions on the full, but the smart replays confirm it has just bounced before.

18.16

SIX! The game is still alive! Banged in short and outside off, Siraj doesn't get it short enough. David Miller picks up the slower ball and nails the pull handsomely in front of mid-wicket for a biggie. 29 needed now off 11 balls.

18.11wd

WIDE! Siraj tries to go wide outside off, away from the hitting arc but gets it a bit too wide.

Commentary

We are back for the all-important run chase. The umpires are back out in the middle and so are the players of Gujarat Titans. It will be the duo of KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka to open the innings for Delhi Capitals. Mohammed Siraj will get proceedings underway with the ball for GT. Let's go...

... The Run Chase ...

Tough chase ahead - 211 isn't going to be easy to chase down but Delhi Capitals will feel that if their openers can get off to a good start, then they can bring in the in-form Sameer Rizvi as the Impact Player and have a real shot at it. However, DC don't have a good record of chasing big totals down at their home ground, and they will need a record run chase to get the job done here. Gujarat Titans do have the experience with the ball but the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada will have to channel that experience into something meaningful. All in all, this is set up to be a fascinating chase. Stay tuned.

Lacking consistency - Delhi Capitals weren't poor with the ball but they did certainly lack consistency in terms of holding their lines and lengths. Mukesh Kumar gave them a fine start by getting the wicket of Sai Sudharsan but they were undone by the explosive nature of Jos Buttler's knock. Wickets were hard to come by in the middle overs and DC seemed to be losing control of the game. However, they did pull things back decently, conceding 49 runs in the last 5 overs, managing to not let the score go over the 220-run mark. Lungi Ngidi was the pick of the bowlers and T Natarajan bowled well too but the spinners were once again fairly expensive.

Washington Sundar is in for a quick chat - Sundar says that he was just focusing on watching the ball closely and trusted his instincts. Adds that the coach has a lot of trust in him and he has given him a lot of volume while training but there's a long way to go. Sundar mentions that it is a very good wicket, skidding a bit when the ball hits the right areas. Says that it is a good score and they back themselves to defend it.

GT's top order back in business - The Titans were itching for their top three to fire big and even though Sai Sudharsan couldn't make an impact today, Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill did manage to do the heavy lifting. Buttler, in particular, was prolific inside the Powerplay and ended up hitting 5 biggies en route to his knock of 52 before getting out in the 8th over. Washington Sundar was yet again entrusted to bat at number 4, and he certainly delivered. His partnership of 104 runs along with the skipper was the highlight of GT's innings. Gill started quietly as Buttler stole the show but he came into his own soon enough and ended up with a solid knock of 70 runs from 45 balls. Sundar then joined the fray and also brought up his maiden IPL fifty as GT finished with a score of over 200 runs.

Big runs on the board - A solid outing with the bat for Gujarat Titans on what doesn't look like a batting paradise of a surface and they will be very pleased with that score of 210 on the board. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, will feel they could have bowled better for sure, as they failed to build pressure with wickets in quick succession or otherwise.

FOUR! Glenn Phillips finishes nicely here! Mukesh Kumar goes pace on and outside off. Phillips gets the chance to free his arms and carves it over extra covers for four run. Gujarat Titans ends up on 210/4.

19.50

Another mix-up, but no damage done! Hard length and around off, Glenn Phillips goes for the reverse scoop but misses. He sets off for the run but there is confusion between the batters, with both ending up in the middle. KL Rahul throws it at the stumps but misses, as the ball rolls down to Mukesh Kumar but by then Tewatia returns to his crease.

19.41

Run out chance...missed! Mukesh Kumar bowls this full and on middle, angling in, Rahul Tewatia drills it towards mid off. Glenn Phillips at the non-striker's end was ready like an Olympic sprinter and set off as soon as Kumar delivered the ball. Tewatia had no other option than to respond. Axar Patel picks up and has a shy at the bowler's end but misses, with Tewatia nowhere to be seen.

A wicket in the final over for DC and that brings Rahul Tewatia to the crease.

19.3W

OUT! CAUGHT! Mukesh Kumar gets his second wicket. He comes around the wicket and tries the yorker, but bowls a low full toss, on middle, angling in. Washington Sundar gets low and tries to loft it down the ground but his bat turns in his hands upon contact. The ball takes the leading edge and lobs straight to Nitish Rana at mid off, who makes no mistake.

19.21

Nails the yorker this time, around off, Glenn Phillips digs it out to extra cover for a single.

19.16

SIX! 200 UP FOR GT! Mukesh Kumar bowls this on a good length and on middle and leg. Glenn Phillips punishes it emphatically smashing it over the deep mid-wicket fence for a biggie.

Mukesh Kumar to bowl the final over. Can GT get beyond the 210-mark?

FOUR! Gets it away again! Overpitched and on middle, Washington Sundar stays deep in his crease and thumps it past the bowler. He beats the dive of Tristan Stubbs at mid off to his right, and long on dives to his right but he too cannot stop the boundary.

18.56

SIX! MAIDEN IPL FIFTY FOR SUNDAR! This has been a fantastic knock and a very crucial one for GT as well. T Natarajan misses his length again and bowls a low full toss, on middle. Washington Sundar opens up his hips, crouches low and smokes it over the deep mid-wicket fence for a biggie.

18.41

Low full toss, on middle, Glenn Phillips cannot get fully under it and drills it to long on for just one.

18.31

A wide yorker, outside off, Washington Sundar can only manage to jam it out to short third for one.

18.20

Nicely bowled! T Natarajan sees the batter move across and bowls this full, outside off. Washington Sundar looks to play the scoop but makes a mess of it, falling over as well.

18.11

Fuller and on middle, Glenn Phillips lofts it but as soon as he hits it, he thinks it is going straight to long on. He puts his bat down, but seeing the ball not carrying, he picks it up and gets down to the other end for a single.

Mukesh Kumar or T Natarajan, who will bowl the 19th over? It will be Natarajan.

Slower, full and on middle, Glenn Phillips drills it past the bowler, down to long off for a run. Just 3 runs and a wicket from the over. Ngidi finishes a superb spell of bowling with figures of 4-0-24-1.

17.50

Dot again! Good length and on middle, angling into the batter. Glenn Phillips only manages to pat it back to the bower.

17.51wd

WIDE! Just gets the wide yorker wrong, spills it over the tramline outside off. Glenn Phillips leaves it alone.

17.40

Beaten! Another slower wide yorker, outside off, dipping in late. Glenn Phillips gets deceived by it and misses.

The next batter is Glenn Phillips.

17.3W

OUT! TAKEN! Lungi Ngidi strikes big here. He rolls his fingers again to give no pace to the batter, serves this full and on off. Shubman Gill tries to get under it and go big downtown, but fails to do so and also loses a bit of his shape. He mistimes the shot high in the air due to the lack of pace and Nitish Rana at extra cover moves to his right, settles under it and takes a good catch. End of a fine knock from the GT skipper.

17.20

Dots are gold! Goes for the wide yorker, but this is a low full toss, takes pace off again. Shubman Gill throws his hands at it but makes no contact.

17.11

Slower one, hard length and around off, Washington Sundar punches it through extra covers for a single.

A loud cry of anguish from Miller as he fails to get it away. A skiddy bumper, right at the batter. Miller gets a bit low and angles the pull down to fine leg for a single. 36 needed off 12 balls.

FOUR! The Capitals will want a lot more of those from Miller right now. Slow and short but wide outside off, Miller extends his arms and powers it in front of covers for a boundary.

Slower one, into the pitch and around off, Nigam pulls it down to long on for a single.

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Mohammed Siraj might have just done the job here for GT. The pacer goes back to bowling full and wide outside off and gets this one spot-on as he gets it to curve away a bit as well. KL Rahul goes reaching for it but can only manage to get an outside edge. The ball flies behind and Jos Buttler takes a good catch to his right. Rahul is distraught with himself and that marks the end of a stellar knock, a knock that in the end, might not be enough for DC.

16.54

FOUR! Rahul gets this one away and moves into the 90s. A yorker gone wrong from Siraj as this is served in the slot and around off. Rahul walks inside the line and heaves it wide of long on for a boundary.

16.51wd

WIDE! Full and wide outside off, sprayed beyond the tramline once again for another extra run.

16.51wd

WIDE! Fullish length, pushed wide outside the off stump and Rahul leaves it alone.

Will David Miller come back now? Yes, he will.

16.4W

OUT! TRISTAN STUBBS IS RUN OUT! Another moment in the game, and this could be a big one. Mohammed Siraj goes into the pitch again and digs the ball in halfway down the pitch. KL Rahul reaches up and forces the ball down to mid on as the batters set off for the single. KL quickly realizes that he has hit it straight to Sai Sudharsan, and he immediately backtracks, leaving Tristan Stubbs halfway down the pitch. Sai picks up the ball and hits the bullseye at the bowler's end. Stubbs puts in a desperate dive but can't make it back in time. DC lose their 5th wicket.

16.30

Too cute from Rahul. KL premeditates and looks for the reverse lap, but Siraj cleverly brings out the slower bumper, bowling it outside off. Rahul is undone by the lack of pace and it will be a dot ball. 51 needed off 21 deliveries.

16.21

That's a certain boundary saved. Full and wide, drilled back past the bowler. Rashid Khan at mid off flings himself and dives to his right, getting a big hand on it. Just a single.

16.11

A low full toss, wide outside off, KL Rahul reaches for it and slashes it off the toe end of the blade towards deep point for a single.

15.51

A high full toss, on middle, KL Rahul gets surprised but manages to tuck it through mid-wicket for a run. Rahul has a chat with Stubbs and takes the review to see whether the ball is above his waist or not. The replay shows that it is well below the waist, and the Ball Tracking confirms it as well. A very poor review!

15.44

FOUR! Oh, a valiant effort, but again, was it necessary? Length ball over middle, KL Rahul stays back and swats it away flat through mid on. Sai Sudharsan charges in from the deep and puts in a big dive, but gets nowhere near the ball, which lands, hits his wrists and goes for a boundary.

15.35

BUZZERS! A bit unnecessary from the GT skipper. A yorker at the stumps, around 150 kph. Tristan Stubbs digs it out into the turf. The ball bounces up and the bowler gets a fingertip on it. The batters go for the single and Shubman Gill from covers picks up the ball and scores a direct hit at the keeper's end with Rahul well in. The ball deflects away after hitting the stumps and rolls away into the fine leg fence for four extra runs.

15.21

Back of a length, outside off, KL Rahul stays back and punches it down to covers for a quick single.

15.21wd

WIDE! Sharma goes wide outside the off stump now, but sprays the ball beyond the tramline.

15.14

FOUR! Just the start DC would have wanted after the break. Sharma goes for the slower ball right away but serves it short and down leg, Rahul picks it up and pulls the ball towards the vacant backward square leg fence for a boundary.

STRATEGIC BREAK! Gujarat Titans seem to be ahead in the game now and a lot rides on the shoulders of KL Rahul if Delhi Capitals are to get over the line in this mammoth run chase. Remember, GT scored just 49 runs in their last 5 overs, while DC currently need 69 more to win in the final 5 overs. Still, a couple of big overs and suddenly it can become a close call but GT will know that a wicket or two here will really put them in the driver's seat. Let's see how the game pans out. Also, Ashok Sharma to bowl after the break.

His bat turns in his hands as well and he mistimes it over extra cover. Glenn Phillips runs backwards and dives to take a superb catch. KL Rahul has a look of disappointment at the other end. It seems like David Miller is having an issue with the left thumb. He might have injured himself again while diving in the previous over. Sameer Rizvi looks to start cautiously and tries to put forward a front-foot defence but the ball lands and turns and zips between bat and pad to knock over the off stump. The Impact Sub goes for a golden duck and Rizvi's run of excellent form has come to a halt here. 110 needed off 60 balls.

OUT! CAUGHT! Rashid Khan does get the better of Nitish Rana and has the last laugh here. A bit of a cold stare from Rashid as Rana walks back past him, adding fuel to the fire and the game is on. Khan bowls it a touch fuller and outside off, but flatter too. Rana stays put and just throws his hands at it, skewing it badly over mid off. However, Rana takes the review right away. The replay shows that the ball is close to the bat, and then may have brushed the gloves as well. WIDE! Errs in line and serves this full but down the leg side, keeps moving in behind the stumps as well. Jos Buttler does well to grab it by diving to his left.

2.50

Good comeback! Mohammed Siraj bowls this on a good length and in that channel outside off, holds its line. KL Rahul slashes hard at it but fails to connect.

2.44

FOUR! Gets it away this time! Slightly fuller in length and around off. KL Rahul extends his arms to reach and hits it through the line, powering it over mid off for a boundary.

2.30

Follows the batter, lands this on a good length, around leg. KL Rahul gets cramped up and tucks it to mid-wicket.

2.20

Swing and a miss! Back of a length and outside off, does not bounce much. KL Rahul has a big heave across the line but misses due to the lack of bounce.

2.12

Fuller and on middle, KL Rahul stands still and lofts it with a straight bat over the bowler's head. He does not get the timing right and long on is able to cut it out, running to his left. Two taken.

Early change in the bowling? Nope, Siraj to continue for now.

Good length and on middle, nips back in, KL Rahul tucks it to the leg side and straightaway shouts 'No'.

1.10

17.50

16.50

A wrong 'un, short and around off. Shubman Gill surprisingly leaves it alone, thinking it is a wide, but gets nothing from the umpire. However, he takes the review this time. The replay shows that the ball is well within the tramline. The on-field call remains and GT lose a review.

16.46

SIX! There she goes again! Tossed up, full and on middle, lands right in the slot. Shubman Gill clears his front leg away and tonks it gracefully over the bowler's head for half a dozen more.

In the blockhole, on middle, Shubman Gill jams it out to long on for one.

15.40

Goes for the slower bumper, keeps it away from the batter, outside off but a bit too much. Shubman Gill throws his hands to reach out for it but misses. It is called a wide, but KL Rahul thinks it is touch and go and convinces Axar Patel to take the review. The replay shows that Gill is standing outside off stump and the revised wide guidelines come up on the screen. The third umpire sees that some part of the ball is inside that guideline and the on-field call is overturned. Good review from DC!

15.34

FOUR! Powered away! Short of a length and around off, takes pace off. Shubman Gill picks it up early, gets on top of the bounce and smacks it to the deep mid-wicket fence for a boundary.

15.21

Low full toss, on middle, Washington Sundar drills it down to long off for a run.

15.11

Fuller in length and on middle, Shubman Gill clips it away to deep mid-wicket for a single.

Strategic Break! Gujarat Titans have built up a solid platform to go big in the last 5 overs. Shubman Gill has marked his return with a fantastic half-century, while Washington Sundar has played the role of the aggressor finely. GT will hope these two can play most of the balls from here, but they do have a lot of firepower and will be disappointed if they don't go past 200. Delhi Capitals are in a tough spot and they need a couple of wickets to stop the run flow.

FOUR! What a way to bring up the FIFTY on return from Shubman Gill. Slower delivery, full and dipping on the batter. Gill picks it up well and waits before firmly flicking it away to the right of deep square leg for a boundary. He will now look to accelerate at the backend of this innings.

14.51wd

WIDE! Pitched up, full and wide outside off, pushed beyond the tramline. Gill has a slight shimmy to the off side but leaves it alone. The keeper thinks about referring the wide but opts against it.

14.41

And again, another signature slower ball from Lungi. This is bowled on middle and leg, Sundar waits well for it and just shows the full face of the blade, lobbing it into the empty space in front of mid-wicket for a single.

14.31

There's that dipping slower one from Ngidi and it nearly outfoxes Gill as well. Shubman Gill walks down the pitch and the ball just dips on him. Luckily for him, Gill manages to get an inside edge that goes past the leg stump and they get a single.

14.21

Full and seam-up as well, on middle. Sundar is a bit rushed and jams the bat down, pushing the ball through mid off for one.

14.10

A dot ball to start the new spell from Ngidi. Back of a length and on off, hits the turf and nibbles away. Sundar has a slash at it but fails to connect.

13.31

Oh, Axar is a lucky man this time. A leg-stump full toss, Sundar gets on one knee and sweeps it down to deep backward square leg for just a single.

13.21

DROPPED? Seems like it. Axar Patel sees Shubman Gill coming down the pitch and shortens the length, bowling it flat and outside off. Gill doesn't reach the pitch of the delivery but goes through with the shot and mistimes it aerially over mid on. David Miller comes charging in from long on and dives forward, getting fingers on the ball but the trajectory makes it almost impossible for him to get the fingers completely underneath it. A single is taken.

6.21

Short again and outside off, Shubman Gill cuts it to deep point for a run.

6.11

Floated, short and on middle, angling in. Jos Buttler stays back and punches it to sweeper cover for a single. That also brings up the 50-RUN STAND between these two batters.

STRATEGIC BREAK! The Powerplay has certainly been a story of two halves, with DC getting the big wicket of Sai Sudharsan in the first 3 overs, and then Jos Buttler exploding in the next 3. Buttler seems like a man on a mission and his sensational hitting has helped Gill get his eye in at the other end. The duo will be looking to play the long game and try to keep chipping away in the middle overs. However, the Capitals will be hoping that Kuldeep Yadav can make an impact in the middle phase and get them a few breakthroughs. Should be an interesting phase of play, so let's get right into it.

Dug in shorter and at the batter, Buttler comes down the pitch and pulls it away to deep square leg for a single. 23 off the over, 36 off the last 2.

4.56

SIX! A third six in the over and Buttler is already into the 40s. Length ball, attacking the off stump, Buttler comes down the track, backs away and hammers it over covers for a biggie.

4.40

That's a good comeback delivery. Banged in short and over middle, Buttler leans back and tries to ramp it away but nearly edges it behind.

4.34

FOUR! Gets it away! Mukesh Kumar follows the batter, lands this on a good length, angling into the leg side. Jos Buttler backs away and flicks it away smoothly, picking the gap between mid-wicket and square leg for a boundary now. 16 runs already with three balls to go in the over.

4.26

SIX! Going, going, and gone! Length ball on off, right in the slot, Buttler clears the front leg and hits through the line of the ball, smashing the ball over long on for a biggie. The 50 comes up for GT as well.

4.16

SIX! Jos Buttler seems to be in the zone tonight. Back of a length, just outside off, Buttler takes a step across to the off side, gets inside the line and scoops the ball over fine leg for a six.

3.51

Nice and full, around off, driven down to long off for one more.

3.41

Fuller one, outside off, pushed away wide of mid off for a single by Jos.

3.30

Flatter one on off, jammed out into the off side. Buttler looks for a single but is sent back.

3.26

SIX! That's easy power again from Buttler. Tossed up, on middle and angling in. Buttler gets inside the line and hoicks it over deep mid-wicket for a maximum.

3.14

FOUR! That is a shot and a half from Jos Buttler. Floated up outside off, Buttler stays put and just gets his hands through the line of the ball, hitting it flat and nearly over the ropes at deep extra cover.

We will see spin for the first time as Axar Patel brings himself into the attack.

Tap and run! Around the top of off, Buttler plays a gentle nudge in front of mid off and races through for the single. GT are 27/1 after midway through the Powerplay.

Oh..no! KL Rahul looks in a lot of pain after getting hit on the middle finger of his left hand. The physio comes in to check on him. Rahul goes for the old home remedy of biting on that finger. Seems like it has worked and he is good to go again.

2.61wd

WIDE! Ouch! KL Rahul seems to have caught an awkward blow here. Back of a length, angled down the leg side, and the ball just curves late after leaving the batter. Rahul tries to pouch it, moving to his left, but cops a blow on the fingers and takes off his gloves right away. Hopefully, he is fine.

2.56

SIX! Why try to find the gap when you can do that? Mukesh bowls it around off, on a good length, but Buttler just steps out and comes inside the line of the ball before clubbing it over long on for the first biggie of the game.

2.40

Can't find the gap, yet again. Fullish length, in and around off stump, Buttler gets his head down and drives but fails to get it past mid off.

2.30

A bit fuller and on leg stump, Buttler leans on and shovels the ball across to mid-wicket once again.

2.20

Length ball again, straighter in line, Jos Buttler clips it to mid-wicket.

Sai Sudharsan's good run against the Delhi Capitals comes to an early end here. Jos Buttler walks out to bat at number 3.

2.1W

OUT! PLAYED ON! Mukesh Kumar makes an impact with the ball for DC yet again. Mukesh keeps the length around the top of the stumps and angles the ball across the left-hander. Sai Sudharsan stays put and looks to cut but the ball shapes back in a touch and finds the inside edge. The ball goes back on to rattle the stumps and the Capitals pick up a big wicket early in the Powerplay.

2.11wd

WIDE! Good-length delivery on leg stump, swings down the leg side and Sudharsan fails to get it away. Half an appeal from the keeper for a caught behind, probably just to avoid a wide call.

Slower ball, slightly shorter than a good length and on leg stump. Sudharsan waits back before just gently nudging it into the leg side for an easy single.

1.51

Good length, on middle, clipped away past square leg for a run.

1.40

Oh, a bit of hesitation out there in the middle. Fuller in length, shaping back in, Gill leans on and taps it back. The ball deflects off the bowler's boot towards mid off and Gill calls for the single but Sudharsan sends him back.

1.30

Seam-up delivery, on a hard length and wide outside off. Gill pushes it off the inner half of the blade and towards mid off.

1.21

On a good length, around middle and leg, wristed away wide of mid-wicket for a single.

1.14

FOUR! Oh, that is glorious from Sudharsan. Ngidi pitches the ball fuller and wide outside off, Sudharsan leans on and strokes the cover drive right off the middle of the bat and past the left of a diving David Miller at extra cover for a boundary.

Good start from the Gujarat Titans, without taking any risks. Lungi Ngidi will share the new ball.

A dot to end but GT pick up 11 runs off the first over. Back of a length, angled into the batter. Gill tries to walk down the pitch but gets cramped for room and jams it back down the pitch.

0.51

Fuller than a good length, on middle, nudged away to the left of mid-wicket. Pathum Nissanka dives across and makes a good half stop to keep it down to a single.

0.41

Excellent cricket, a single right after the boundary once again. Fuller this time, on off, Gill prods ahead and pushes it in front of covers for a quick single.

0.34

FOUR! A touch of class from Shubman Gill now. Short of a good length, shaping away from off. Gill stays upright, waits well and taps it brilliantly through cover-point for a boundary to get going.

0.21

Length ball, outside the off stump, slapped away to the fielder at deep backward point for a single by Sudharsan.

0.14

FOUR! Up and running in style. Good-length delivery, too straight in line. Sai Sudharsan walks down the pitch and tucks it away sweetly and in front of mid-wicket as the ball races away to the fence.

We are all set to start! There has been some overnight rain, but hopefully it stays away during the game. The Delhi Capitals players gather in a huddle, with Axar Patel offering words of wisdom, before spreading out and taking up their respective field positions. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill are the two openers for the Gujarat Titans. The in-form Mukesh Kumar has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. A slip in place as well. Let's play...

Lungi Ngidi has a chat with the broadcasters - Ngidi says that he has been able to stay calm and read situations better in recent times and will be looking to continue that form from the World Cup earlier in the year. On his bowling variety, he says that working with Dwayne Bravo earlier on in his career helped, and now he just tries to develop and practice things on his own.

The skipper of Gujarat Titans - Shubman Gill says that the neck is much better. Adds that they were going to bat first anyway and if the weather stays as it is, there won't be much dew in the second innings. Hopes that they assess the conditions early and set the tone in the Powerplay. Gill mentions that it is all about clicking in the one game as they came close in the previous one as well. Informs that they have just one change in the side as he comes in place of Kumar Kushagra.

The captain of Delhi Capitals - Axar Patel says that they have chased well in the last couple of games and it is a fresh wicket. Adds that there is a bit of rain around and if there is some moisture, they want to use that with the ball early and restrict the opposition to a low total. Axar mentions that he doesn't only look at the match-ups, he reads the conditions and situations to make his bowling changes. Informs that they are going with the same team.

Impact Player options for DC - Ashutosh Sharma, Auqib Nabi, Sameer Rizvi, Dushmantha Chameera, and Karun Nair.

Delhi Capitals (Unchanged XI) - KL Rahul (WK), Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana, Vipraj Nigam, Axar Patel (C), David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi, T Natarajan, and Mukesh Kumar.

Impact Player options for GT - Prasidh Krishna, Jason Holder, Manav Suthar, Jayant Yadav, and Anuj Rawat.

Gujarat Titans (Playing XI) - Shubman Gill (C) (In for Kumar Kushagra), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (WK), Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, Shahrukh Khan (In for Prasidh Krishna), Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, and Ashok Sharma.

TOSS - It's toss time in Delhi! The two captains, Axar Patel and the returning Shubman Gill, are out there in the middle. Patel gives it a flick, and Gill calls 'Tails.' It lands as 'Heads,' and Delhi Capitals opt to BOWL first.

Let's now hear from Glenn Phillips - Phillips says that it is the same for him as everyone else in this team, and he is trying to improve from the last couple of games. Adds that they got themselves in a good position but couldn't finish it off last time around. Mentions that it is a new day, they need to go about their process, stay in the game and hopefully get over the line as momentum is important in this long tournament. Phillips shares that he tries to focus on the things that he can control and makes him happy to stay motivated for each game. Ends by saying that having Matthew Hayden in the camp has been great, it's excellent to pick his brains, and he hopes to use his experience to extend his personal game as well.

PITCH REPORT - Daren Ganga is pitchside. He says that the square boundaries are equidistant at 63 meters, while the straight hit is 73 meters. Adds that the dimensions behind him are sub-60 meters and batters will look to target them. Kevin Pietersen joins him and says that the pitch is a bit lighter in colour with fewer dark patches of grass from the day game earlier this season. Shares that there is also a bit of sheen and reckons even though it will be good for batting, it may not be that high-scoring. Ends by saying that with a little bit of rain around and less grass, spin will play a factor.

Looking for a complete game - Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, are 0-2 in terms of wins and losses this season and will be hoping that their skipper, Shubman Gill is fit to play this game. The top order hasn't been a problem but apart from Sai Sudharsan's knock of 70-odd in the last match, the top order has been lacking in terms of big runs. However, it is the middle order that has been the major issue and GT need to find someone reliable at the number 4 or 5 position. The bowling has also been a mixed bag for the Titans. Prasidh Krishna has been among the wickets but he came into the attack very late in the first game. Mohammed Siraj was predictable with his lines in the last game but was given only two overs upfront when he bowled well in the first game. Ashok Sharma has emerged as an out-and-out pace option, but again, Kagiso Rabada needs to lead the pack better. The anticipation is growing in Delhi and the stands are starting to get filled by the minute and we are not that far away from the toss as well, so stay tuned.

Replicating the last season - Delhi Capitals won their first four games in the 2025 season, setting a solid base for the rest of the season, and they will be hoping to make it a hat-trick of wins today to kick-start the 2026 season as well. So far, the Capitals have played some excellent cricket, especially in the field but their batting does need improvement. Sameer Rizvi has been the standout performer with the bat, with back-to-back Player of the Match performances but the likes of KL Rahul and other up top have struggled. Meanwhile, Mukesh Kumar has led the bowling attack well but their star spin duo of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are yet to make a big impact on the game.

A collision of contrasting fortunes - Hello, and a warm welcome to one and all. We are at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi for Match number 14 of the 2026 IPL season and the hosts, Delhi Capitals, will be taking on Gujarat Titans. It is the battle of a team that has started its season with back-to-back wins against a team that is yet to get its first points on the board.

... MATCH DAY ...

Kotla in action again - The IPL 2026 is well heated up now, and matches come like the Delhi metro, one after the other. We move back to the national capital for Match 14 of the season as Delhi Capitals welcome Gujarat Titans to the town in what is shaping up to be a humdinger of a contest. Both teams have had absolutely contrasting journeys so far. DC have started off pretty well, winning both their opening games, including a home game as well, against the mighty MI. They are currently placed in the upper echelons of the points table. On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans are coming off a stinging defeat to the Rajasthan Royals. A game that went all the way down to the wire. Their hopes were buried in the chase, but their lower order helped them to get a real sniff at it, but it wasn’t to be. The Titans, along with the Super Kings, are the only two teams that are yet to get on board in this season. A loss here will mean a lot of catching up to do mid-season. So, from GT’s point of view, this is a crucial, crucial clash to finally get the first points. DC moving in sync - That’s what one might make of their season so far. Their bowling has been exceptional through Mukesh Kumar and Lungi Ngidi, setting the tone nicely upfront with the new ball. Then the spinners duo, along with T Natarajan, have ruled the middle and death over phase in both games. And because of such completeness in the attack, they have managed to restrict their opponents to middling scores, which they have chased down with relative ease. The defining feature is how they started in the Powerplay. Conceding just 48/2 and 41/2 while bowling first on both occasions, the Capitals have set the tone right from the start, which has allowed the bowlers to be themselves and operate with much more freedom. Not perfect, just yet - However, despite looking solid in all departments, there are some minor wrinkles to iron out as their season moves ahead. While Sameer Rizvi has hit the top gear through his match-winning knocks in both games, the top order has actually been very inconsistent at best. KL Rahul, their most prolific and experienced batter, is yet to get out of single digits, whereas Nitish Rana, coming in at number 3, hasn’t provided the spark he was expected to so far. Pathum Nissanka, after misfiring in the opener, smashed a brisk 44 against MI, which would surely do the world of good for his confidence. The middle order is not a problem at all for the Capitals, with, of course, Rizvi justifying his place at number 4 and truckloads of franchise and international experience with the two destructive South Africans in Miller and Stubbs to follow next. It’s only when the top order finds its rhythm that this team will look like a complete one. The Gill question - All eyes are now on Shubman Gill. His absence in the last game due to a spasm left a noticeable gap. The team management has hinted it is not serious, but there is still no clear word on whether he will play in Delhi. If he misses out again, Rashid Khan will continue to lead, but more importantly, the batting takes a hit. Gill is not just a run scorer, he is the glue at the top. Without him, the middle order suddenly feels exposed, which has already been vulnerable at best. Glenn Phillips can provide the late punch, but the likes of Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia are yet to get going this season. That makes things look a bit thin, especially under pressure. Rashid and Rabada almost, almost brought GT alive from the ashes through their cameos, but one would expect such from the ones who are there for that role, as every day isn’t the same. To be fair, they have not had a lot of chances either. The top three of Gill, Sudharsan, and Buttler have been so dominant, doing most of the heavy lifting. Take Gill out, and that entire flow indeed gets disrupted. Which is why this game carries a little extra weight for Gujarat. It is not just about points. It is about finding balance again. Speed guns going for a toss - 154.2 kph. The fastest ball of IPL 2026 so far. And no, it did not come from the usual headline makers. It came from Ashok Sharma, a name that is quickly moving from ‘who’s that?’ to ‘keep an eye on him’. He has always had that raw pace in domestic cricket, proper bazooka stuff, and the Gujarat Titans brought him in to add bite alongside the Rabada, Krishna, and Siraj trio. So far, he has held his own. Not spectacular, but definitely impactful enough to justify the call. That said, the bigger picture for the Titans’ bowling is a bit uneven. The need for control - The Powerplay has been a concern. Conceding 55 and 69 in the first six overs across two games is not ideal, especially when your strength is supposed to be your pace battery. Mohammed Siraj, the senior figure in the attack, is still searching for rhythm and control, and that has shown. Spin is another area that feels slightly undercooked. Rashid Khan remains the go-to guy, the banker as always, but beyond him, the threat level dips. Washington Sundar adds control, sure, but he hasn’t been utilised as much. Also, GT were guilty of using just five bowlers against the Royals despite going for plenty. And then there is the Sai Kishore question. The second-highest wicket-taker for them last season, yet he has not featured so far. If it is not injury-related, it does raise a few eyebrows. Team form (Last 5 completed matches, recent first) - DC - WWLLL | GT - LLLLL. The number game - Still a fresh rivalry, still finding its edge. Gujarat Titans hold a narrow 4-3 lead over Delhi Capitals in seven meetings so far, but it is the recent memory that really adds spice here. Last season, the Titans did a clean double over Delhi, and not in subtle fashion. They chased down 200-plus targets both times, making it look almost routine. One of those nights turned into a complete demolition job at Kotla. Gill and Sudharsan just went absolutely berserk, tearing the bowling apart. Sudharsan brought up a stunning hundred, Gill cruised to 93, and Delhi were left chasing shadows in their own backyard. Hence, DC have some scores to settle when they take the field at Kotla this time around. It’s locked and loaded and promises entertainment aplenty. Should be a humdinger.
